Description
Jacket, shirt, and pants created by the production for use in the French film "All the Mornings of the World (Tous les matins du monde)" (1991) for Gérard Depardieu's character Marin Marais.
Jacket: Short green bolero jacket made from synthetic material. Opens at the obverse with a string closure at the neckline. The bottom hem, arm holes, and proper left have repeating loops of velvet hanging from them. Border of golden threaded patterns and dark red faux jewels align the bottom, arm holes, and both sides of the obverse opening. The neckline is bordered with golden threaded designs. Interior is lined with a yellow-green material. Tag on reverse interior of collar reads “Angels / AND BERMANS / The Costumiers to the Entertainment Industry” and “PARIS” written in ink below that. A second tag is on the reverse interior on the right near the bottom that reads “Bermans - Traonouey / 195 BLD VOLTAIRE 75011 PARIS.”
Shirt: White silk shirt with very long sleeves. Each arm has three orange velvet bows: one on either side of the elbow, and one at the wrist. The wrist bows have button clasps at the reverse. Both arms end with layers of lace. Obverse of collar has two buttons placed vertically at the opening on the right, and two holes on the left. A button clasp closure is on the collar at the left and right. Tag on reverse interior of collar reads “Angels / AND BERMANS / The Costumiers to the Entertainment Industry” and “PARIS” written in ink below that.
Pants: Green petticoat breaches made from a synthetic material. Opens at the obverse with three vertical buttons / holes, and an attached velvet belt that has two hooks on the end and five snap buttons along the center horizontally. The “belt” and the bottom of the green portion of the breaches have repeating loops of velvet hanging from them. The obverse him at center has a downward facing triangle of loops. The green portion has a bottom border of golden threaded patterns and dark red faux jewels. The legs under the top green portion are a white synthetic material that matches the interior lining. The legs end with a green border containing elastic, and two green decorative bell-shaped attachments with golden threaded borders and lace hanging from the bottom. The reverse top hem has four holes to cinch together with a string, but there is no string. Tag on left interior of top hem reads “Angels / AND BERMANS / The Costumiers to the Entertainment Industry” and “PARIS” written in ink below that. A second tag is above that which reads “Bermans - Traonouey / 195 BLD VOLTAIRE 75011 PARIS”.

Condition
Jacket: Abrasions and loose threading throughout reverse top near collar.
Shirt: Shirt has slightly yellowed overall with heavier yellowing at center of back, and collar. There is a hole on the top of the proper left shoulder. Strings under ribbons are unraveling where they connect the ribbons to the shirt itself. Buttons on wrist cuffs are missing.
Pants: Tie string missing at reverse top hem. Discoloration from accretions throughout internal top lining. White elements internally and on knees have yellowed. Topper proper left looped ribbon on obverse triangular piece is coming unraveled from the base. Many of the golden strings hanging from the top belt area have been torn and are broken throughout.
