"Temptress Moon (Feng yue)" Ruyi's (Gong Li) Costume

Description

Shirt and skirt created by the production for use in the Chinese film "Temptress Moon (Feng yue)" (1997) for Gong Li's character "Ruyi." 

Shirt: Red silk, Chinese style shirt with embroidered images throughout of flowers. Shirt has frog clasps on each side of obverse of stand up collar with snap buttons on proper right, while each side of shirt has loop and knot ties throughout. Sleeves are elbow length and have wide cuffs. Interior is lined with red floral silk.

Skirt: Long red silk, Chinese style skirt that button and tie closure on proper left side of waist. Skirt has multicolored embroidered images throughout of flowers and birds. Interior is lined with white silk.

Condition

Shirt: Loose strands of thread on obverse center of embroidery.

Skirt: Black accretions on obverse proper left side of hip, on reverse proper left of seat, and on the interior lining on reverse.  Dirt marks and debris along bottom hem.
