"Young Guns II" Arkansas Dave Rudabaugh's (Christian Slater) Costume

Description

Costume created by the production for use in "Young Guns II" (1990) for Christian Slater's portrayal of "Arkansas Dave Rudabaugh." This is a six-piece lot consisting of a coat, a jacket, a shirt, a pair of pants with attached suspenders, and long underwear.

Coat: Gray wool sleeveless coat. Garment opens at the front and has two decorative buttons at center on both sides of the opening. Reverse top has a small capelette. Reverse bottom has a vertical split that runs from the bottom hem to the belt line. A faux blood stain is on the obverse top proper left.

Jacket: Black and red and white plaid jacket. Jacket opens at the obverse center via five buttons. Interior is lined with a dark green fabric,

Shirt: Green long-sleeved shirt. Large deep neckline cinched with a brown cord. Each arm cuff is closed with a single button. Shirt is intentionally distressed to appear dirty. A faux bullet hole with a faux bloodstain is on the obverse proper left shoulder area.

Pants: Gray wool pants with brown suspenders. Grayish brown wool pants with black vertical stripes throughout. Pants open at the top front with one visible button and two hidden buttons. There is a pocket on both the left and the right, and belt loops throughout the waistband. Brown cotton suspenders with leather ends are attached to the interior waistband with two buttons on the obverse proper right, two buttons on the obverse proper left, and two buttons on the reverse center. Tag is sewn into the interior reverse waistband with “CHRISTIAN S” handwritten in ink. 

Long Underwear:  Cream-colored long underwear. Duofold brand. Made in U.S.A. Size Medium. “RUDABAUGH” written in pen on the interior reverse waistband to the proper right of the manufacturer’s label.

Condition

Coat: There are numerous tears throughout the interior lining and at both arm holes. Undetermined whether or not this was intentionally done by the production.

Jacket: Small tears throughout the exterior on the bottom of both arms and on the obverse center. Small tears at the elbows. Undetermined whether or not this was intentionally done by the production. Interior appears to be covered in sweat stains.

Shirt: Shirt has a vertical tear under the neckline. Unsure whether or not this occurred during production. All other staining appears intentional by the production.

Pants: Horizontal tear on the reverse proper right near the bottom. Middle button is missing at obverse opening of pants.

Long Underwear: Wrinkled. Some minor staining on the waistband at the obverse and reverse.
