"Nob Hill" Sally Templeton’s (Vivian Blaine) Velvet Stage Jacket
"Nob Hill" Sally Templeton’s (Vivian Blaine) Velvet Stage Jacket
Description
Offered here is the burgundy velvet stage jacket worn by Vivian Blaine as Sally Templeton in the classic 20th Century Fox musical “Nob Hill” (1945). This elegant jacket is crafted in rich burgundy velvet and features black satin peaked lapels, a single-button front closure, a proper-left chest pocket, and two side pockets with flap closures.
The interior includes multiple authentic 20th Century Fox wardrobe labels. A studio label near the collar reads: “JOB DATE 4-17 / NAME SIZE 34 / INV. 3-41-2-0419.”
Additional 20th Century Fox wardrobe department stamp marks appear near the proper-right sleeve, reading: “3 41 2 0419 / PROPERTY OF 20TH / CENTURY STUDIO / MENS WARDROBE DEPT.”
The jacket also retains its Macintosh maker’s label, along with a second interior label inside the proper-right pocket that reads: “Mr. GEORGE RAFT / Date JULY ‘44 Ord NO.”
Despite the Raft markings, this jacket matches the jacket used by Vivian Blaine, including the distinct differently colored side panels and tailored women’s fit, indicating it was likely originally made for Raft and later altered by the studio for Blaine’s use in the film.
A striking piece of Golden Age Hollywood wardrobe, this screen-identified jacket is a standout addition for collectors of musical cinema, vintage costume design, and 20th Century Fox history.
