"Paris Qui Remue" (1930) Josephine Baker Live Show Program and Music Sheet

Description

Program and music sheet created by the production of the French live show "Paris Qui Remue" performed at the Casino de Paris (1930). The show featured Josephine Baker and the debut of her song “J’ai deux amours” (I have two loves). The show also featured a live cheetah named “Chiquita.”

Program: Paper booklet from the Casino De Paris. Image on front cover is in color and is supposed to be Josephine Baker standing in the nude. Her hair is short, and her arm is adorned with beads and jewels. A leopard stands to the proper left on its hind legs offering a bouquet of flowers to Baker. Writing in the top proper left corner on cover reads "CASINO / DE / PARIS". Interior pages of booklet are attached to each other but have come loose from cover. Interior pages have information about the directors, cast, and advertisements.

Song Sheet: Song sheet from "Paris Qui Remue" for the song "J'ai deux Amours" performed at the Casino De Paris by Josephine Baker. Image on front has text throughout and image similar to on the cover of the program of Baker with beads and jewels throughout her arm and midsection while a leopard stands on its hind legs to the proper left offering her a bouquet of flowers. Text throughout cover is a blue tone with a brown colored stamp towards the top proper right corner. Interior has music for "J'ai Deux Amours". Condition

Program: Interior pages have torn away from cover leaving holes where they once connected. Creases all throughout booklet. Wear to corners and edges with creasing and loss of color.

Song Sheet: Paper yellowing throughout. Color of text is fading. Signs of foxing along bottom edge. Horizontal crease at center. Paper is buckling. Small tears and creases throughout edges of paper.
