"Duel to the Death (Xian si jue)" Sheng Nan's (Flora Cheung) Sword and Sheath

Description

Sword and sheath acquired by the production for use in the Hong Kong film "Duel to the Death (Xian si jue)" (1983) for Flora Cheung's character "Sheng Nan."

Sword: Double-edged sword with a long thin metal blade. Bottom of blade has a metal lotus-shaped guard painted gold with a series of holes on both sides. Handle is metal, wrapped in silver-toned foil, and pommel is metal painted gold with a round stamped pattern design on both sides. Both sides of the blade have a faint etching near the hilt. The etching includes an image of a Chinese dragon and stars on both sides, and Chinese lettering on one side.

Sheath: Sheath for a sword, made of wood and wrapped in a silver-toned foil, with gold-toned metal covers at both ends. The metal covers are stamped with a pattern of stars, diamonds, and other shapes that create round designs.

Obtained directly from Golden Harvest Entertainment.

Includes Planet Hollywood Certificate of Authenticity.

Condition

Sword: Staining throughout blade, including some fingerprints. Significant loss of gold paint on hilt. Green corrosion present on one side of guard. Small spots of corrosion on pommel, in decorative recesses. Foil wrapped around handle is not applied evenly.

Sheath: Metal foil is not applied evenly and thus has bumps/wrinkles throughout. Some tears in foil near metal covers. Both metal covers are very dull and are beginning to corrode. Metal cover near opening in sheath is loose (attached, but moves). Large scratch in foil near center of sheath.
