"Flight of the Intruder" Flight Deck Turtleneck and Life Preserver Vest

Description

This set includes a distressed red nylon life preserver vest with brown trim and a red long sleeve cotton turtleneck shirt, created for use on the flight deck in Flight of the Intruder (1991).

The life preserver vest features snap closures down the lapels, silver reflective strips at the shoulders, and a strip of material on the proper right chest that holds a black rubber tube, which protrudes through a circular cutout on the proper right chest. A lower right pocket with snap closure conceals two small tanks used to inflate the vest, while a green nylon pouch is attached to the proper left chest with safety pins. The interior tag at the neckline reads: “FLIGHT DESK PRESERVER / VEST TYPE / CONTRACT NO: N00104-70-D-0649 / Size MEDIUM / THE PEOPLE CO. HUNTINGTON, W. VA.” The sides of the vest feature adjustable straps for fit.

The accompanying red cotton turtleneck shirt has an interior tag that reads:
“SEPARATELY / Tumble Dry / 100% Cotton / M / Lally / DISTINCTIVE WEAR.”

Condition

Vest: Spots of discoloration throughout, appearing intentional. Cluster of pinholes on the obverse pocket and additional pinholes at the proper right shoulder.

Turtleneck: Visible fading at shoulders, collar, and sleeves. Soiling on the obverse center of the torso and two circular spots on the reverse center.
