"Gettysburg" Autographed “Killer Angels” Commemorative American Flag

Created during the production of "Gettysburg" (1993), this American flag was presented to the film's makeup supervisor, Allan Apone of Makeup & Effects Laboratories (MEL), and has been extensively autographed by members of the cast and crew. Based on Michael Shaara's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel The Killer Angels, Gettysburg is one of the most acclaimed Civil War films ever produced, featuring an ensemble cast that includes Tom Berenger, Martin Sheen, Jeff Daniels, Sam Elliott, Stephen Lang, and Richard Jordan. Personalized production memorabilia from the making of the film is exceptionally scarce, making this a unique opportunity for collectors of historical and cinematic artifacts.

The 100% cotton bunting flag features white stars against a blue canton with alternating red and white stripes throughout. A red-and-white swallowtail banner is attached over a portion of the canton and is decorated in gold lettering reading "KILLER / ANGELS / MEL." Additional gold lettering across the fourth red stripe reads "20th REGT MAIN VOLS," referencing the 20th Maine Volunteer Infantry Regiment, one of the film's most memorable units. The reverse is mirrored and unfinished, consistent with the flag's construction. Two brass grommets along the hoist edge were used for hanging, and the hoist is stamped "DEFIANCE / ANNIN / SINCE / 1847 / USA / 100% COTTON BUNTING." The flag is extensively signed throughout in black marker by members of the production, creating a remarkable commemorative piece honoring the making of the film.

Minor creases and wrinkles throughout.  Loose thread on reverse near top towards the proper left side. Some dark staining near Sam Elliot’s autograph.
