"Last Hurrah for Chivalry (Hao xia)" Tsing Yi's (Damien Lau) Sword and Sheath

Description

Sword and sheath acquired by the production for use in the Hong Kong film "Last Hurrah for Chivalry (Hao xia)" (1979) for Damien Lau's character "Tsing Yi."

Sword: Long thing double-edged sword with metal blade, fitted into a decorative metal guard and attached to a wooden handle wrapped in gold and black strips of cloth. Metal pommel is detached.

Sheath: Sheath for a long sword, made of wood and wrapped in faux snakeskin, with metal coverings at both ends and two metal coverings along shaft, one of which has a small metal loop protruding from it.

Obtained directly from Golden Harvest Entertainment.

Includes Planet Hollywood Certificate of Authenticity.

Condition

Sword: Several nicks along edge of blade, some quite deep. Gouge near tip of blade. Metal guard is showing early signs of corrosion, with some light-colored spots throughout and green/white in crevices in decorative part. Guard is also loose on handle. Metal pommel may not be original to this sword, as it does not fit properly on the end of the handle. Metal pommel is severely corroded and is missing a pointed tip.

Sheath: Metal coverings are discolored/corroding, most severely on the coverings on both ends (particularly near the tip, which is covered in white/green spots). Some tears in the faux snakeskin, especially near the metal tip. Pattern of round indentations in faux skin - possibly part of the faux effect or damage from bubble wrap. Missing second metal loop on the top right.
