Description
This original costume from the film Les Palmes de M. Schutz was worn by Isabelle Huppert in her portrayal of Marie Curie and represents an exceptional example of European period film wardrobe. The ensemble reflects the restrained elegance and practical design seen throughout the production and offers collectors a rare opportunity to acquire an authentic costume from a celebrated performance.
The costume consists of a black-and-white sleeveless pinafore–style dress featuring two functional side pockets. The reverse of the dress includes snap closures along with hook-and-eye fastenings throughout, allowing for a secure and adjustable fit. Paired with the dress is a white cotton short-sleeve shirt with a front button-down closure. The shirt features a delicate white floral print across the fabric, with the edges of the neckline and sleeves trimmed in white lace, adding subtle period detail.
Condition
The costume shows very minor snags to the material, a small hole on the obverse proper left near the bottom buttons, and slight yellowing on the tops of the shoulders.
