"Little Orphan Annie" (Radio Series) 1937 Toy Decoder Pin
Description
A rare and highly collectible 1937 secret decoder pin produced as a promotional tie-in for the classic radio series Little Orphan Annie. This gold-toned “Radio Orphan Annie Secret Society” decoder pin features the iconic sunburst design associated with the beloved adventure program and remains one of the most recognizable pieces of vintage radio memorabilia from the Golden Age of Broadcasting.
The decoder pin is designed with a spinning circular dial at the center, allowing users to decipher secret messages broadcast during episodes of the popular series. As the dial rotates, numbers align with letters revealed through small openings along the border, recreating the interactive experience enjoyed by young listeners during the 1930s. The center of the dial displays two crossed skeleton keys and the initials “ROA SS,” representing the “Radio Orphan Annie Secret Society.” The top of the decoder prominently reads “1937,” identifying the year of issue. Reverse retains a simple pin-back closure.
Vintage Little Orphan Annie memorabilia remains highly sought after by collectors of radio history, advertising collectibles, and Depression-era pop culture artifacts. Decoder pins issued through sponsor promotions became legendary among fans and are closely associated with the lasting legacy of the series and its influence on early fan engagement and serialized entertainment marketing.
An excellent addition to any collection of vintage radio premiums, Americana, advertising memorabilia, or classic entertainment collectibles.
