Description
Created by the production for use in the stage play "Othello" (1971) for James Earl Jones' portrayal of "Othello" at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles, CA. Tan linen robe with black velvet trim and decorative stripes throughout. Robe has hook and eye closure at front of collar and interior Western Costume Co. label sewn into interior. Handwriting on interior label reads “JAMES EARL JONES / OTHELLO”.
Acquired from Butterfield & Butterfield auction house.
Includes Planet Hollywood Certificate of Authenticity.
Mannequin not included.
Condition
Repair to proper left corner of collar. Minor areas throughout where velvet has been slightly crushed. Repair / loose stitching to proper right waist. Spots of soiling on lower obverse proper right.
