"The Fast Sword (Duo ming jin jian)" Chief Chen's (Yi Chang) Pair of Swords
Description
Two swords acquired by the production for use in the Hong Kong film "The Fast Sword (Duo ming jin jian)" (1971) for Yi Chang's character "Chief Chen."
Each sword is a Chinese-style single-edged dao sword with slightly curved metal blade that comes to a point, with a metal guard painted a bronze color. A black leather band is wrapped around the handle, and each sword has a talon-shaped, bronze painted pommel made of molded polyresin. Edges are not sharpened at all except near the tip of sword #1.
Obtained directly from Golden Harvest Entertainment.
Includes Planet Hollywood Certificate of Authenticity.
Condition
Sword #1: Blade is generally dull with fingerprints throughout. Significant staining on back edge of blade (dark spots - possibly early signs of corrosion). Shiny residue on leather wrapped around handle. Some loss of bronze-colored paint on hilt. Shiny rectangle of residue on hilt (possibly from a sticker). Blade is very slightly loose where it connects to hilt. Blade edge has been sharpened near tip and has lost a small bit of the tip because of this.
Sword #2: Blade is slightly dull with some fingerprints present. Some white staining on blade. Leather band is coming loose near pommel and a green surface is visible beneath it. Tip of pommel is broken off (shows yellowish plastic material beneath paint layer).
