"The Ghost and Mrs. Muir" Ana’s (Natalie Wood) Bathing Suit

Description

Offered here is Ana’s (Natalie Wood) blue linen bathing suit dress from the classic film The Ghost and Mrs. Muir. This charming piece features short sleeves, a high collar, and white trim, with a hidden hook-and-eye closure along the obverse proper left side.

The shoulder and waist are accented with decorative white buttons—three on the proper left shoulder and one on the proper left side of the waist. The bathing suit includes a white silk sleeveless bodice paired with blue linen bottoms featuring elastic cuffs. The neckline and sleeves are lined with delicate white lace for an authentic vintage look.

Original interior tags are present, including a white label on the proper left center seam with stamped and handwritten text reading:
“2 19 1 0565 510-45 NATALiE WOOD”
and a white interior tag on the proper left waist reading:
“2 19 1 05 0565 510-45 N.WOOD.”

Condition

The bathing suit shows fading on the obverse, shoulders, sleeves, and bottom of the legs from previous light exposure during display. There are holes at the tops of the shoulders, the bottom proper left of the skirt, and the bottom proper right edge. The hem is coming undone on the bottom proper left edge of the skirt, and several of the snap button bottoms on the obverse closure are broken off on the proper left side. The cuffs have lost elasticity, and there is tearing along the shoulders and proper left of the waist, with a small tear on the proper right of the waist; the shoulder and waist tears have been reinforced with white canvas material.
