"The Wackiest Ship in the Army" Ens. Tommy J. Hanson’s (Ricky Nelson) Pants

Created for the production of "The Wackiest Ship in the Army" (1960), these khaki military dress pants were made for Ens. Tommy J. Hanson, portrayed by Ricky Nelson, in the classic World War II comedy. Tailored in a traditional military style, the pants feature a clean khaki finish and represent the understated naval uniform design worn throughout the film.

The interior waistband bears the distinctive Western Costume Co. stamp, and the original costume label remains intact, reading: "Western Costume Co. / HOLLYWOOD / NO. 8360-1 / NAME Ricky Nelson / CHEST / SLEEVE / WAIST 30 / INSEAM 31." The presence of the original studio wardrobe label identifying Ricky Nelson makes this an especially desirable piece for collectors of classic Hollywood costume memorabilia and fans of the singer, actor, and teen idol. The pants were acquired from the renowned Butterfield & Butterfield auction house, providing an added layer of provenance.

The pants exhibit expected production use and age-related wear, consistent with their vintage and history. Condition

Lining of pockets are heavily yellowed throughout.  Pinholes and snags throughout interior and exterior of waistband.
