"Unkown Treasure" - Pair of Men's Rose-Colored Slippers (Possibly from "Young Bess")
Description
Step into cinematic history with this pair of men’s rose-colored period-style leather slipper shoes, believed to be screen-used in the production of Young Bess (1953). These elegant and historically styled slippers feature: a pointed throat with a central split; brown piping tracing the opening and throat; three oblong brown cloth accents sewn onto each vamp; and a soft rose-colored leather finish. The right shoe includes a partially legible insole inscription, reading: "King Bee / Casual", and bears an original round orange Sotheby’s sticker marked: "SOTHEBY’S / 540/11 / NEW YORK". The left shoe features similar construction, with the insole inscription fully worn.
Acquired directly from Sotheby’s Beverly Hills, Lot 540, in their May 21, 1997, auction. This lot included other costume items from Young Bess, and the auction listing stated that the slipper-style shoes “...appear to have been from the same production; the slipper style shoes... appear to match the shoes found in the original costume sketch.”
Includes Planet Hollywood Certificate of Authenticity.
Condition
Right Shoe: Considering the shoe's age, it is in good condition. The red leather surface is generally dusty and the interior of the shoe is significantly worn. The sole is only slightly worn. There are a series of pinholes along the proper left side, at top center along opening of shoe (likely from display). Some of the fine threads in the piping have broken/frayed slightly. Minor flaw or damage in leather along proper right side near toe. Small white/cream stain on proper left side of heel. Large staining on surface on proper left side of vamp (water stain?). Toe is scuffed.

Surface stains on back of shoe on proper left side (water stains?). Toe is scuffed.
